Originally released by Nintendo between 1990 and 1993, The Super Nintendo Entertainment Sytstem (also known as Super NES, SNES or Super Famicon in Japan) was a highly popular 16-bit video game console.

The SNES was a massive global success, going on to become the best-selling console of the 16-bit era despite its quite late start and the fierce competition it faced in North America from Sega's Genesis console. The SNES remained popular well into the 32-bit era though, and although Nintendo has since dropped all support for the console, it still continues to be very popular among fans, collectors, retro gamers, and emulation enthusiasts. Even to this day there are people producing new SNES ROM images in the hombrew scene.

Early emulation projects began with the release of VSMC back in 1994, and then Super Pasofami became the first working SNES emulator in 1996. Around that time, two competing emulation projects—Snes96 and Snes97—merged to form a new project called Snes9x. In 1997, SNES enthusiasts began programming a new emulator named ZSNES. These two have remained the best-known SNES emulators, although there is continued development on others as well. In 2003, both the Snes9x and ZSNES teams and others began to push for exact emulation this movement is now led by the development of bSNES.

Windows(XP, Vista, 7) ZSNES is simply the best Super Nintendo available. It's ultra fast and should run at full speed on any Celeron or faster PC. It also supports Super Nintendo features which are very hard to emulate (and which were unavailable just a while ago), like DSP1 emulation (Mario Kart), SuperFX emulation (StarFox) and now even C4 emulation (Megaman X3)! These features make ZSNES the mostcompatible Super Nintendo emulator available.	Download
Mac SNES9x is the best SNES emulator for Mac, and is probably the most used non-MAME emulator in the world. SNES9x is fast and has very good (90%+) game compatability. It also has SuperFX support, partial DSP1 support and NetPlay! If you need the Appearance Manager, NetSprocket, InputSprocket, or Navigation Services, go here. It has also been updated to be fully compatible with mac OS X. Note: v1.43 does not include NetPlay support!	Download

PS 1 Sadly there is no known SNESemulator for the PSX (PS1) as the console does not have enough RAM to emulate it.
PS 2 SNES Station is a free PS2 SNES emulator based on Snes9x, and although it has trouble with a few SNES games, there are plenty of games that run absolutely perfectly. The SNES Station GUI is nice, you can save your game at any time (to memory card), and although you can only load roms from CD it’s still well worth trying out if you’re a Super Nintendo fan.
